Thanksgiving, 2009

Tricia and I are in Albuquerque for a few days, celebrating a long Thanksgiving weekend with the family. Fourteen of us are packed into my mom’s little house. Nobody’s complaining. Too much.

Tricia and I arrived late Wednesday night and were able to get a couple hours of sleep before being awakened early Thursday morning by everyone else. We’re sleeping in the living room, so that’s how it goes.

Somehow Cameron got a bed.

Breakfast was fairly simple: Bacon and Egg Tacos.

Bacon crackling in the morning sunlight. God Bless America!

Breakfast was followed by a walk to the park. It was fun.

My mom on the swing. Hanging on for dear life.

Bill plays with his balls.

Then, an impromptu pull-up contest:

My dad did one.

Not bad for 74!

Tricia did one. Sort of.

Bill won with 7 chin-ups.

Thanksgiving dinner was a Persian feast. James made three different stews, incorporating turkey meat in the recipes.

Gravy stock

We baked an additional turkey for good measure.

Monica Lewinsky joined us for dinner.

I’m hoping some day I’ll figure out how to prevent the photos from getting cut off.
