Yes, San Antonio hosted its very own Fashion Week. I got to shoot the Trensas Gloriosas fashion show on the final evening during the Una Noche de Gloria event at Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. The theme was braids (trensas) and the designers and stylists did a great job with the models.
It was a unique event in that the fashion shoot was also the show. Rather than the models presenting the fashions and hair on a runway, we opened the shoot for the public to watch. Part of the challenge in a shoot like this is cycling through ten models in a two-hour span. A normal fashion shoot with just one model is easily a several hour affair, so having each model for only ten minutes in a restricted space required a bit more effort to ensure the photos were varied enough in lighting and pose.
Overall, I’d say it was a successful shoot. These days, however, success is determined primarily by the health of my back following the shoot. The models seemed happy, as I still got them to pose with me following the shoot!
